I am a postdoctoral researcher and teacher at the Department of Built Environment at Eindhoven University of Technology, and a member of the Urban Labs team. My work sits at the intersection of housing studies, urban governance and policy, and socio-spatial inequalities, with a particular focus on housing systems, design, and alternative housing models for middle-income and vulnerable groups, and people experiencing homelessness.
My research investigates how different housing concepts, policy frameworks, and design approaches can contribute to more inclusive and stable housing solutions. Within the NWA Passende Huisvesting project, our work contributes to a paradigm shift from emergency shelter provision toward long-term stable housing. I study how Housing First and other housing approaches can transform existing governance structures, and how collaboration between municipalities, housing associations, care organisations, and people with lived experience can support more just and sustainable housing outcomes.
I draw on comparative research, theories of self-organisation and collective housing and (de)commodification approaches, combined with qualitative methods, including case studies, stakeholder engagement, and scenario planning. My work has been published in leading housing and urban studies journals, including International Journal of Housing Policy, Journal of Housing and the Built Environment, Housing, Theory and Society, and Housing Studies, and has been supported by national research initiatives such as the Agency for Research and Development (ANID) in Chile.
Prior to my current position, I completed my PhD in 2025 at Delft University of Technology, where I investigated 'Collaborative Housing' initiatives in Chile as a response to housing precarity and social inequalities. I have held an internship at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and researcher positions at TU Delft and TU Eindhoven, where I collaborate with researchers and practitioners across Latin America and Europe working in the fields of social housing, policy and urban studies.
I am currently working on the NWA project Passende Huisvesting, where my research aims to advance a paradigm shift from temporary shelter provision to stable, long-term housing solutions.
Feel free to get in touch to discuss research collaborations, ongoing projects, my thesis or shared interests in housing, urban inequality, and alternative housing models.
My research programme is structured around two interconnected themes: Collaborative Housing and Homelessness. I draw on [methods / theories] to address questions relating to [core questions], working across multiple scales from individual experience to policy and structural analysis.
